Scottish Country Dancing  –  Classes 501 to 509

Presented in association with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (Glasgow Branch)

Class 501 – Scottish Country Dancing

For dancers aged 18 and over who regularly attend a class. The RSCDS Glasgow Branch Quaich Certificate may be awarded.
Test Pieces:

Two couples dance Reel or Jig and two couples dance Strathspey.
Each dance to be performed 4 times through.
(If Branch publication, instructions and music must be sent with the entry form.)
Entry fee: £35.00

Class 502 – Scottish Country Dancing (RSCDS books)

For dancers aged 18 and over who regularly attend a class. The RSCDS Glasgow Branch Quaich Certificate may be awarded.
Test Pieces:

Two couples dance Reel or Jig and two couples dance Strathspey.
Each dance to be performed 4 times through.
Entry fee: £35.00

Class 503 – Scottish Country Dancing – Square Dance

For dancers aged 18 and over who regularly attend a class. The RSCDS Glasgow Branch Quaich Certificate may be awarded.
Test Piece: Square Dance – RSCDS Headquarters or RSCDS Branch publication.
(If Branch publication, instructions and music must be sent with the entry form.)

Class 504 – Scottish Country Dancing (18 and under)

For dancers aged 18 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded.
Test Pieces:

Two couples dance Reel or Jig and two couples dance Strathspey.
Each dance to be performed 4 times through.
Entry fee: £35.00

Class 505 – Scottish Country Dancing (15 and under)

For dancers aged 15 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded.
Test Piece: Either Reel: College Hornpipe (8 x 32) (RSCDS Book 20)
or Jig: Sunshine and Sweeties (8 x 32) (RSCDS Book 48)

Class 506 – Scottish Country Dancing (12 and under) A

For dancers aged 12 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded.
Test Piece: Either Reel: The Honeymoon (8 x 32) (from ‘ Book of Graded Scottish Country Dances’, RSCDS)
or Jig: St Andrew’s Fair (8 x 32) (from Roy Goldring ‘Five Scottish Country Dances’)

Class 507 – Scottish Country Dancing (12 and under) B

For dancers aged 12 and under with little or no experience of Scottish Country Dancing. Dancers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.
Test Piece: Any 8 x 32 Reel or Jig from an RSCDS publication.
Entry fee: £35.00

Class 508 – Scottish Country Dancing (10 and under) A

For dancers aged 10 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded.
Test Piece: Either Reel: Easy Peasy (8 x 32) (from ‘A Second Book of Graded Scottish Country Dances’, RSCDS)
or Jig: The Highland Fair (8 x 32) (from ‘Book of Graded Scottish Country Dances’, RSCDS)

Class 509 – Scottish Country Dancing (10 and under) B

For dancers aged 10 and under with little or no experience of Scottish Country Dancing. Dancers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.
