Class 81 – Baroque Piano Solos

The winner of this class may be invited to perform in the Piano Solos Premier Class (see regulation 28).
Test Piece(s): Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of a composition, or of movement(s) from a composition, by J S Bach, Handel or D Scarlatti, similar in duration and difficulty to Bach’s ’48’. In the case of D Scarlatti, two contrasting sonatas should be played. Performances must not exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 82 – Piano Sonata

The winner of this class may be invited to perform in the Piano Solos Premier Class (see regulation 28).
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of any movement of an advanced standard from a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 83 – Romantic Piano Solos

The winner of this class may be invited to perform in the Piano Solos Premier Class (see regulation 28).
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music of an advanced standard by Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Franck or Fauré (or another composer of this period) – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 84 – Debussy and Ravel Piano Solos

The winner of this class may be invited to perform in the Piano Solos Premier Class (see regulation 28).
Test Piece: Own choice of music of an advanced standard by either composer – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 85 – Modern Piano Solos

The winner of this class may be invited to perform in the Piano Solos Premier Class (see regulation 28).
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music of an advanced standard using idiomatic 20th or 21st century pianistic and harmonic techniques – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 86 – Piano Solos – Premier

For the winners of classes 81-85 and 87 (see regulation 28). The William Findlay Trophy Certificate will be awarded. The Lillian Campbell Memorial Prize will be awarded.
Test Piece(s): Performers will play the Test Piece(s) which they have already played.

Class 87 – Piano Solos – Open

The winner of this class may be invited to perform in the Piano Solos Premier Class (see regulation 28).
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music of an advanced standard – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 88 – Piano Solos A

For players not performing in classes 87 and 89-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 7 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 89 – Piano Solos B

For players not performing in classes 87, 88 and 90-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 6 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 90 – Piano Solos C

For players not performing in classes 87-89, and 91-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 5 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 91 – Piano Solos D

For players not performing in classes 87-90, 92-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 4 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 92 – Piano Solos E

For players not performing in classes 87-91 and 93-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 3 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 93 – Piano Solos F

For players not performing in classes 87-92, and 94-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 2 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 94 – Piano Solos G

For players not performing in classes 87-93 and 95-97.
Test Piece: Any one piece from a Grade 1 exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.

Class 95 – Piano Solos H (non-competitive)

For players not performing in classes 87-94, 96 and 97. Performers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.
Test Piece: Any one piece from an Initial Grade exam pieces book published by ABRSM or Trinity which comprises pieces that may be presented at an exam of either board in March 2024. Details of the selected piece to be stated on the Entry Form, see regulation 22.
Entry fee: £12.00

Class 96 – Piano Solos (non-competitive)

For players of any standard not performing in classes 81-95 and 97. Performers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.
Test Piece: Own choice – not to exceed 6 minutes.

Class 97 – Piano Solos (adult performers)

For players aged 19 and over and not performing in classes 81-96. Performers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.
Test Piece: Own choice – not to exceed 6 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 98 – Piano Duets – Open

For players not performing in classes 99-101, 222 and 223.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of a work of comparable standard to Associated Board and Trinity College Grade 7 or above – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £24.00

Class 99 – Piano Duets A

For players not performing in classes 98, 100, 101, 222 and 223.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music of comparable standard to Associated Board and Trinity College Grades 5-6 – not to exceed 6 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 100 – Piano Duets B

For players not performing in classes 98, 99, 101, 222 and 223.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music of comparable standard to Associated Board and Trinity College Grades 3-4 – not to exceed 4 minutes.

Class 101 – Piano Duets C

For players not performing in classes 98-100, 222 and 223.

Class 102 – Six Hands on One Piano

For players not performing in classes 214-224 and 226.

Class 103 – Jazz Piano Solos – Open

Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music of an advanced standard which must include an element of improvisation – not to exceed 10 minutes.

Class 104 – Jazz Piano Solos A

For players not performing in classes 103, 105 and 106.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music which must include an element of improvisation of comparable standard to Associated Board and Trinity College Grades 5-6 – not to exceed 6 minutes.

Class 105 – Jazz Piano Solos B

For players not performing in classes 103, 104 and 106.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music which must include an element of improvisation of comparable standard to Associated Board and Trinity College Grades 3-4 – not to exceed 4 minutes.

Class 106 – Jazz Piano Solos C

For players not performing in classes 103-105.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of music which must include an element of improvisation of comparable standard to Associated Board and Trinity College Grades 1-2 – not to exceed 4 minutes.

Class 107 – Ragtime and Blues Piano Solos – Open

Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of either ragtime or blues music – not to exceed 10 minutes.
Entry fee: £20.00

Class 108 – Ragtime and Blues Piano Solos A

For players not performing in class 107.
Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of either ragtime or blues music – not to exceed 6 minutes.
Entry fee: £12.00

Class 109 – Rock Piano Solos

Test Piece: Own choice (see regulations 19-25) of a piano arrangement of a rock or popular song, or an original piano piece in a rock, pop, or jazz style – not to exceed 6 minutes.

Class 110 – Organ Solos – Open
