Classes 401 – 409 will be held on Monday 7 March 2016

Class 401 – SCD – Primary Schools (P7)

For Primary 7 children from a school (see regulation 5). The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be

awarded

Test Piece: Either Reel: The Maids of Currie (8 x 32) or Hedwig’s Reel (8 x 32)

or Jig: Granville Market (8 x 32) from new Book ‘Jigs and Reels’

 

Class 402 – SCD – Primary Schools (P6)

For Primary 6 children from a school (see regulation 5). The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be

awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Either Reel: The Maids of Currie (8 x 32) or Hedwig’s Reel (8 x 32)

or Jig: Granville Market (8 x 32) from new Book ‘Jigs and Reels’

 

Class 403 – SCD – Primary Schools (P5)

For Primary 5 children from a school (see regulation 5). The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be

awarded (see page 48).

Class 404 – SCD – Primary Schools (P4)

Class 405 – SCD – Primary Schools (P6/7 non-competitive)

For children from a primary school (see regulation 5) with little or no experience of Scottish Country

Dancing. Performers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.

Test Piece: Either Jig: Charlestown Chaser (4 x 32) or The Waratah Weaver (4 x 32)

or Reel: Hedwig’s Reel (8 x 32) from new Book ‘Jigs and Reels’

 

Class 406 – SCD – Primary Schools (P4/5 non-competitive)

For children from a primary school (see regulation 5) with little or no experience of Scottish Country

Dancing. Performers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made between performances.

Test Piece: Either Jig: Charlestown Chaser (4 x 32) or The Waratah Weaver (4 x 32)

or Reel: Round Reel of Eight (1 x 88) from new Book ‘Jigs and Reels’

 

Class 407 – SCD – Secondary Schools A

For young people aged 18 and under from a secondary school (see regulation 5). The Marion B

Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: (a) Own choice of any 8×32 Reel or Jig from RSCDS Books 1-24

(b) Own choice of any 8×32 Strathspey from RSCDS Books 25-49

Two couples dance Reel or Jig and two couples dance Strathspey.

 

Class 408 – SCD – Secondary Schools B

For young people aged 15 and under from a secondary school (see regulation 5). The Marion B

Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Own choice of any 8×32 Reel or Jig from RSCDS Books 1-49

 

Class 409 – SCD – Secondary Schools (non-competitive)

For young people from a secondary school (see regulation 5) with little or no experience of

Scottish Country Dancing. Performers will receive an adjudication but no comparison will be made

between performances.

Test Piece: Own choice of any 8 x 32 Reel or Jig from RSCDS Books 1-49

 

Classes 410 – 416 will be held on Saturday 5 March 2016

 

Class 410 – SCD – Youth Organisations A

For dancers aged 16 and under from a youth organisation in which members participate in a varied

programme of activities, one of which is Scottish country dancing. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Own choice of any 8 x 32 Reel or Jig from RSCDS Books 1-49

 

Class 411 – SCD – Youth Organisations B

As for class 410 but for dancers aged 10 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be

awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Own choice of any 8 x 32 Reel or Jig from RSCDS Books 1-49

 

Class 412 – Scottish Country Dancing (18 and under)

For dancers aged 18 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Own choice of Reel or Jig and Strathspey from RSCDS Books 1-49

One dance must be taken from Books 1-24 and the other from Books 25-49.

Two couples dance Reel or Jig and two couples dance Strathspey.

 

Class 413 – Scottish Country Dancing (15 and under)

For dancers aged 15 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Either Reel: The Reel of the 51st Division (RSCDS Book 13)

or Jig: Own Choice of any 8 x 32 Jig from RSCDS Books 1-49

 

Class 414 – Scottish Country Dancing (12 and under) A

For dancers aged 12 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Either Reel: Own Choice of any 8 x 32 Reel from RSCDS Books 1-49

or Jig: St Andrew’s Fair (RSCDS 5 for 1982)

 

Class 415 – Scottish Country Dancing (12 and under) B

For dancers aged 12 and under from groups which have not previously entered a Scottish country

dance festival. The Festival reserves the right to redirect entries for this class. The Marion B

Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).

Test Piece: Either Reel: Hedwig’s Reel (Second Graded Book)

or Jig: Own Choice of any 8 x 32 Jig from RSCDS Books 1-49

 

Class 416 – Scottish Country Dancing (10 and under)

For dancers aged 10 and under. The Marion B Hamilton Certificate may be awarded (see page 48).
